Can I use JavaScript instead of TypeScript for developing on TON?

It's often suggested to use TypeScript for developing on TON. Tutorials for using libraries such as ton from npm are full of TS examples. What if I'm willing to use JavaScript but not ready for TypeScript yet? Can I just use the same libraries or do I need other ones?
